John Deere Classic Predictions
The 2018 John Deere Classic begins play on Thursday morning. Here’s some golfers we think should contend for the victory this weekend.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Francesco Molinari is the favorite, as he is listed with 10/1 odds to win. Other short odds to prevail are Bryson DeChambeau (11/1) and Zach Johnson (12/1). The John Deere Classic takes place Thursday-Sunday from TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
Francesco Molinari 10/1
This isn’t an event you’d find Molinari in often, especially with The Open Championship taking place next week. However, Molinari is on such a hot streak, he probably doesn’t want to stop playing. He has won two of his last four events while finishing second in another. Molinari is having arguably the best year of his career so far and I think he can add another win in a very light field this weekend.
Zach Johnson 12/1
Johnson isn’t having the greatest 2018 season, as he has just one top-10 finish. However, this has been his best tournament by far, and one close to his heart. Johnson won this tournament in 2012 and he has finished second three other times. This tournament is a priority for Johnson, so he will be treating it like a major and wanting to grab a win before heading overseas.
Kyle Stanley 25/1
Stanley has been a bit hit-and-miss this season, but I think this weekend can be a hit. While Stanley has missed four cuts in 2018, he also has three top-10 finishes. The missed cuts have been in the bigger events. This field isn’t terribly competitive, so I expect a boost in Stanley’s performance. He has finished 15th or better in three of his last six events and I expect him to be pushing the leaderboard come Sunday.
