The Northern Trust Open features the top 125 players in the FedEx Cup standings and is the first of four playoff events. According to the latest oddsmakers, Dustin Johnson is favored to win this week. He has 9/1 odds to prevail. Other short odds to win are Justin Thomas (12/1), Brooks Koepka (12/1) and Jason Day (12/1). The Northern Trust Open takes place Thursday-Sunday from Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey.

Johnson was the 2017 winner of this event and he also won in 2011. He remains the top-ranked golfer in the world and he comes into this event with three wins on the year along with 10 top-10 finishes. In his career, Johnson has won four FedEx Cup playoff events.
Thomas is the defending FedEx Cup champion and he has won one playoff event in his career. Thomas has picked up two wins this year to go with a total of eight top-10 finishes. He currently ranks third in the world rankings. Last year, Thomas finished sixth in this tournament.
Koepka is second in the world rankings after winning the PGA Championship a couple weeks ago. Koepka has won two majors this year and has four top-10 finishes. He has yet to win a FedEx Cup playoff tournament and was 49th in this event a year ago.
Day is 10th in the world rankings and he has finished in the top 20 in his last four tournaments. Day has picked up a pair of wins this year and has five top-10 finishes. Day is a two-time playoff event winner, including the 2015 Northern Trust. Last year, he finished sixth.
