Can Day repeat at Torrey Pines?
Jason Day had one of his many wins in 2015 come at the Farmers Insurance Open. Can he defend his championship this week?
According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Day is the clear favorite to win this week, as he is listed with 11/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Rickie Fowler (23/2) as well as Brandt Snedeker and Dustin Johnson, who are each listed at 16/1. The Farmers Insurance Open takes place Thursday-Sunday from Torrey Pines in La Jolla, CA.
Day won this event last year in a playoff. He is currently second in the world rankings following five wins in 2015. He finished 10th in the lone event he has played in this season and has finished 12th or better in 10 straight events, including four wins.
Fowler has shot up to No. 4 in the world rankings thanks to his big win last weekend in Abu Dhabi. He has placed in the top 5 in three straight events and he has four wins since the start of 2015.
Snedeker was the 2012 victor of this event and he also finished second in 2013 and 2010. He has finished third or second in the two events he has played in this year, but had just one win a year ago.
Johnson is eighth in the world rankings and is playing in his second event of 2016. He placed 10th in the Tournament of Champions. He has placed 15th or better in three straight events and five of his last seven outings. He also had one win in 2015.
