St. Jude Classic Predictions
The FedEx St. Jude Classic begins play on Thursday morning. Here’s three golfers we like to contend for the victory this weekend.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Dustin Johnson is favored to win, as he has 13/2 odds to prevail. Other short odds to win are Brooks Koepka (9/1), Henrik Stenson (11/1) and Phil Mickelson (16/1). The FedEx St. Jude Classic takes place Thursday-Sunday from TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee.
Dustin Johnson 13/2
This weekend’s field is terribly stacked, so I like Johnson to step up as the favorite. He has finished in the top 20 in four straight tournaments and 13 of his last 14. With this lighter field, DJ should definitely be in the mix. He lost his spot as the No. 1 ranked golfer a few weeks ago. This week gives him a chance to get it back with a win. He’s a former winner of this very tournament and I think he can do it again this week.
Phil Mickelson 16/1
Mickelson is having himself a nice 2018 and now he comes to a tournament where he finished second in 2016 and in 2013. Mickelson has five top-10 finishes this year, including his first win since 2013. Lefty has always had his courses that he does very well at. This is the case this weekend at Southwind. I like Mickelson to compete for the victory alongside DJ.
Daniel Berger 28/1
Berger is the two-time defending champion of this tournament. While it’s not easy to three-peat, clearly this is one of his best courses. Berger hasn’t had a good 2018 so far, failing to crack the top 10 in all 11 events he has played in. However, he wasn’t playing great heading into this event last year and still managed to win. This course obviously suits him well, so look for another strong outing from Berger.
