Day had a dominant weekend, posting a 63 on Saturday and 8-under 62 on Sunday to run away with the first FedEx Cup playoff event. Day finished -19 for the tournament, which was better than the field by six shots. His victory gives him the lead in the FedEx Cup standings by 290 points on Jordan Spieth, who missed the cut in the tournament and lost his top ranking to Day.

According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Day had 8/1 odds to win this tournament entering the week, which means a wager of $100 on him to prevail will pay out an additional $800.

Henrik Stenson finished second in the tournament at -13 overall after posting a 4-under 66 on Sunday. Bubba Watson took third on his own at -11 overall after shooting a 69 in the final round. Sangmoon Bae entered the day as part of the final pairing and tied with Day for the lead, but shot a 2-over 72 on Sunday to finish at -9 overall and tied for sixth.
