The Barclays Picks
The 2016 Barclays tees off on Thursday morning. Here are some golfers we like for this week’s FedEx Cup Playoff event.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Jason Day is favored to win this week, as he has 15/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Dustin Johnson (9/1), Rory McIlroy (10/1) and Henrik Stenson (12/1). The Barclays takes place this Thursday-Sunday from Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.
Jason Day is the defending champion, winning this event by six strokes last year. He also has been pretty consistent at winning big events, as he has won The Players Championship, the WGC-Dell Match Play event and the Arnold Palmer Classic this year. He also has performed well at the majors, just taking second at the PGA Championship. Look for another big tournament from Day this week.
Henrik Stenson was runner-up at this tournament last year and he is also on a really strong run. Over his last five events, he has two wins (the British Open) and also a second-place finish at The Olympics. He also is a former Fed-Ex Cup champion, so he knows how to win in these playoff events. Look for him to be right near the top on Sunday.
Adam Scott is listed at 33/1 to win this week and we feel he has some value with those odds. Scott has yet to miss a cut in 2016, which is a pretty incredible stat. You know he is going to make it to the weekend. From there, he just has to put some solid rounds together, which he can do. He has two wins this year and is the 2013 winner of The Barclays. Look for Scott to be a potential winner this weekend.
