PGA Tournament Picks and Predictions – Safeway Open 10/12/16

Safeway Open Predictions

The 2016 Safeway Open is set to get underway on Thursday morning. Here are some golfers we think can contend for the win.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Paul Casey is the favorite to win this weekend’s event, as he has 12/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Matt Kuchar (16/1), Emiliano Grillo (18/1), Justin Thomas (18/1) and Phil Mickelson (18/1). The Safeway Open takes place Thursday-Sunday from Silverado Resort in Napa, California.

Bet on the Ryder Cup

Paul Casey has quietly worked his way up the world rankings to No. 12. He had a great showing in the FedEx Cup playoffs, finishing second in two events and fourth in another. While he is seeking his first win of the year, we think he can get it this week in a lackluster field.

Justin Thomas has been knocking on the door for a win as well. He has finished in the top 10 five times this year and in three of his last six events. He is coming off a sixth-place finish at the TOUR Championship weeks ago and he can build on that this weekend with a win to start the 2017 PGA season.

Jason Kokrak finished second in this event back in 2012 and he comes into this week with 40/1 odds. I like those odds for him since he has a little positive history at this course. He comes into this tournament having finished 17th or better in his last three tournaments I think he will continue to build off that this week and potentially pick up a win.
