Shell Houston Open Picks
The 2017 Shell Houston Open event is set to get underway tomorrow morning. Here are some golfers we like to contend for the victory.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Jordan Spieth is favored to win, as he is getting odds of 13/2 to prevail. Other short odds to win are Jon Rahm (10/1), Henrik Stenson (12/1) and Rickie Fowler (14/1). The Shell Houston Open takes place Thursday-Sunday from the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
Jordan Spieth is playing in his home state, which should provide him with a little boost. He has finished outside the top 10 in three straight events, but he can quickly turn that around this weekend. He was 13th here a year ago and would like a strong outing leading up to next week’s big tournament in Augusta.
Jon Rahm is on a roll right now and should be considered a strong play this weekend. He has placed in the top 5 in four of his last five tournaments, including one victory. He finished second in the WGC-Dell Match Play event last week, going toe-to-toe with many of the top golfers in the world. Look for him to do the same this weekend.
Adam Scott is listed with 25/1 odds to win this weekend but I think there is value there. Scott has made the cut in eight straight events, finishing in the top 10 in three of them and in the top 15 in seven of them. He is playing consistently well, no matter the course or the event. He also is rested, as he hasn’t played in over a month. He should be ready to go to get his game at its peak entering The Masters next week.
