Valspar Championship Picks
The 2017 Valspar Championship gets underway on Thursday and features many of the top golfers in the world. Here are some of our picks for this event.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Justin Thomas and Henrik Stenson are co-favorites to win, as each has 10/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Ryan Moore (22/1) and Matt Kuchar (25/1). The Valspar Championship takes place from Thursday-Sunday from Innisbrook-Copperhead Course.
Justin Thomas seemed to get back on track last week at the Mexico Championship, placing fifth. He had struggled prior, but also has two wins already in 2017. He placed in the top 20 of this event last year and wasn’t playing nearly as well as he has been this year. Look for Thomas to make a strong run at a third win this weekend.
Gary Woodland has 25/1 odds to win this week and he is a former champion of this event, winning in 2011. Woodland has three top-10 finishes this year in six events, including a runner-up in the Honda Classic. I like Woodland to contend for the win this weekend as well.
Bill Haas is a bit of a flyer at 25/1 as well. He has been a pretty consistent player this year, finishing no worse than 32nd and no better than 11th. However, he has made the cut in nine straight events, placing in the top 20 in six of them. Haas is going to make the cut and be near the top of the leaderboard this weekend. Now he just needs to put a few more shots together to get you a nice payday. I think this course is where he does it, as he was runner-up last year.
