OHL Classic Predictions
The PGA Tour begins play in the OHL Classic on Thursday morning. Here are some of the golfers we like to contend for the win this weekend.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Rickie Fowler is the favorite this week, as he has 8/1 odds to win. Other short odds to prevail are Pat Perez (14/1) and Gary Woodland (18/1). The OHL Classic takes place Thursday-Sunday from El Camaleon Golf Club in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
Rickie Fowler is 10th in the world rankings and is the top-ranked player in this weekend’s tournament. He has had a pretty solid 2017 season, winning one tournament while placing in the top 3 of five events. He also has finished in the top 10 in a total of 10 tournaments this year. Fowler has finished 20th or better in his five of his last six tournament as well, so he should be primed for another good showing this weekend.
Pat Perez returns as the defending champion of this tournament on a relative hot streak. He has finished in the top 20 in five of his last six tournaments, including a win in the CIMB Classic. Perez has a total of six top-10 finishes this year, which has allowed him to climb to 18th in the world rankings. Since this tournament is a little light in the competitive and he has success here, I like Perez to make a push to be a back-to-back champion.
Jason Kokrak comes into this weekend with 40/1 odds and I think there is good value there as a dark horse pick. Though he hasn’t won since 2011, there are signs that the 113th-ranked player is on his way toward that. Kokrak has made the cut in seven straight tournaments, which includes a top-10 finishes and five top-25 finishes. He also finished 15th in this tournament a year ago, so he has the ability to navigate this course. I think Kokrak is a great option if you are looking for a really big payout.
