The RSM Classic Predictions
The PGA Tour tees off its final tournament of the 2017 year with The RSM Classic starting on Thursday. Here’s our predictions to win this week’s tournament.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Kevin Kisner is now the favorite, as he has 16/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Matt Kuchar (18/1), Brian Harman (20/1) and Webb Simpson (20/1). The RSM Classic takes place Thursday-Sunday from Sea Island Golf Club in Sea Island, Georgia.
Kevin Kisner is a former winner of this tournament, taking home the title in 2015. Kisner is having a respectable 2017 season, winning one tournament while finishing in the top 10 in a total of seven events. Kisner hasn’t played in over a month, but his last outing was a third-place finish in the TOUR Championship against many of the best in the PGA. With this weekend’s field lacking much name power, I expect Kisner to push for the win.
Brian Harman has had plenty of good momentum in recent events, finishing in the top 10 of his last two tournaments. The 2017 year has been a good one as well. Harman has earned one victory and a total of nine top-10 finishes. That has helped him move to 27th in the world rankings. While Harman missed the cut in this event a year ago, he wasn’t playing well coming into the event either. He is playing well right now and should be able to contend in this light field.
Russell Knox has 50/1 odds for this weekend, but I think there is some good value there. At first glance, there isn’t much to like about Knox. He has just two top-10 finishes in 2017 and has missed 13 cuts. However, he has had a tendency to end his year strong and pick up some good finishes in these weaker events. He closed 2016 by finishing in the top 20 in four straight, including three top-10 finishes. Just last week he put up a ninth-place finish, his second-best outing of the year. I think Knox is gearing up for another strong finish to the year.
