Tour Championship Predictions

The Tour Championship is set to tee off play on Thursday morning. Here is a look at the golfers we think have the best chances to win the 2017 PGA FedEx Cup Playoffs finale.

According to the latest oddsmakers, Jordan Spieth is favored to win this event, as he has (5/1) odds. Other short odds to win are Dustin Johnson (8/1) and Rickie Fowler (10/1). The Tour Championship takes place Thursday-Sunday from East Lake Golf Course in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bet on The Tour Championship

Jordan Spieth has the points lead in the FedEx Cup standings for a reason. He has finished second in the first two playoff events and seventh last week. Spieth now enters the final event, which is a tournament he has already won. With the field small, it’s hard to see him not being a top contender this weekend. He has three wins on the year with 10 top-10 finishes. Don’t look for him to cool off.

Justin Thomas is his closest competitor in the playoff standings thanks to his win in the Dell Technologies Championship. While he is coming off a 47th-place showing last week, Thomas still knows he needs to probably win this week to claim the FedEx Cup. Having won two of his last four tournaments, including the PGA Championship, I would suspect Thomas is going to be right in the mix to win this weekend. He finished sixth at this event a year ago, so playing well here isn’t foreign to him.

Webb Simpson is a dark horse to consider this weekend, as he has 45/1 odds. Simpson is someone that has won FedEx Cup playoff events before and is also a major champion. Though he has struggled in recent years, he seems to be making a push back to his old form this year. Simpson has six top-10 finishes in 2017 and he has finished in the top 10 in three of his last four events. In such a small field, anyone could steal the victory if they get hot. I think Simpson has been on a really good upward trend and pushing toward his first win since 2013. Given the long odds, I think it would be smart to place a small wager on him.
