Genesis Open Predictions
The 2018 Genesis Open will tee off Thursday morning. Which golfers should you consider wagering on this weekend?
According to the latest oddsmakers at YouWager, Dustin Johnson is the favorite this week, as he has 5/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Rory McIlroy (12/1), Jordan Spieth (12/1) and Justin Thomas (16/1). Tiger Woods is also playing this week and has 40/1 odds to win. The Genesis Open takes place Thursday-Sunday from Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California.
Dustin Johnson is the defending champion of this tournament, winning by five strokes a year ago. He also finished second in this event in 2014 and 2015. The top-ranked golfer in the world is rolling right now. In three events this year, Johnson has finished in the top 10 of all three including a win and a runner-up finish. Johnson seems to be locked in and should have another strong weekend at a course he does very well at.
Phil Mickelson has 22/1 odds to win this weekend and Lefty comes in playing very well. He has cracked the top 5 of his last two tournaments and is a two-time winner of this very tournament. Mickelson has also placed second two other times in this event. He is winless since 2013, but his hot streak combined with playing at a course he is very comfortable at gives me reason to believe Lefty can make it happen this weekend.
Bubba Watson is listed with 50/1 odds this weekend. There hasn’t been a lot to like about Bubba over the last year, but he is another golfer that has done very well at this course. Watson is a two-time winner of the Genesis Open, last claiming the title in 2016. Watson hasn’t cracked the top 20 this year in three tournaments, but with long odds I think Watson has some value. He is a golfer that has his select courses that he plays very well at. I think Watson can make a run this weekend and possibly land you a major payout.
