Phoenix Open Predictions
The 2020 PGA Tour moves to TPC Scottsdale this weekend for the annual Waste Management Phoenix Open. Here’s the golfers we like to contend for the win.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Jon Rahm is the favorite to win this tournament, as he is getting 6/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Justin Thomas (8/1) and Webb Simpson (14/1). The 2020 Waste Management Phoenix Open takes place Thursday-Sunday from TPC Scottsdale-Stadium Course in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Bet on the Waste Management Phoenix Open
1000 Jon Rahm 6/1
Rahm is really playing at a high level right now, finishing first or second in five of his last seven tournaments. That includes a runner-up finish in last weekend’s Farmers Insurance Open. He has been consistent at this event in recent years as well, placing 11th in 2018 and 10th in 2019. Rahm has finished in the top 15 in 14 of his last 15 tournaments. I would expect him to remain among the top contenders this weekend.
1005 Hideki Matsuyama 16/1
Matsuyama is on a bit of a slide over the last year, but I think this tournament can help him get back on track. He won this tournament in 2016 and 2017, both in a playoff. He also finished second in 2015. Despite his struggles, Matsuyama has still finished in the top 20 in eight of his last 10 tournaments. I think he brings great value to Phoenix this weekend, as he has been strong at this event for years.
1020 Branden Grace 40/1
If you are looking for a golfer with long odds that has some value, I think Grace is the right play. Grace comes in with longer odds, but he finished runner-up in this tournament a year ago. Grace didn’t have much to write home about last year, as he missed 11 cuts in 28 tournaments and dropped to 127th in the world rankings. However, he has played well in Africa and Europe in recent weeks to climb back up to 70th. He won the South African Open and was third at the HSBC Championship. Now coming back to America at a tournament he played well at a year ago, I like his chances to climb up the leaderboard.
