Waste Management Phoenix Open Picks
The 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open tees off on Thursday morning in Arizona. Here are some golfers we think can contend for the victory.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Jon Rahm is the favorite this weekend, as he is getting odds of 15/2. Other short odds to win are Justin Thomas (9/1), Hideki Matsuyama (12/1) and Xander Schauffele (16/1). The Waste Management Phoenix Open takes place Thursday-Sunday from TPC Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Bet on the Waste Management Phoenix Open
Jon Rahm 15/2
Rahm is sixth in the world rankings right now and he has been playing very well for 2019. In three events, he has three top-10 finishes this year. Dating back to the end of 2018, he has placed eighth or better in five straight tournaments, including one win. Rahm finished 11th in this event last year, so I think he will continue his hot streak this weekend and be a top contender for the win.
Hideki Matsuyama 12/1
Matsuyama is a two-time winner of this event and also finished runner-up another time. He had to withdraw last year, so he is eager to get back to this tournament and continue his strong play here. Matsuyama is coming off a third-place finish last week, so he is playing well entering this weekend. I like him to once again contend for the victory in this event.
Phil Mickelson 22/1
Like Matsuyama, Mickelson has a lot of experience of strong play in this tournament. He is a three-time winner of this event and he holds the tournament record for low score of 256. Mickelson ended his 2018 by beating Tiger Woods in match play and he finished second in the Desert Classic, his lone event of 2019 thus far. Mickelson hasn’t been his old self for a while, but this has been one of his most consistent events. He was fifth last year and I think he will step up again this weekend.
