Wyndham Championship Predictions
The 2018 Wyndham Championship is set to get underway on Thursday morning. Here are some golfers we think will contend for the win this weekend.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Webb Simpson is the favorite this week, as he is getting odds of 10/1 to win. Other short odds to prevail are Hideki Matsuyama (14/1) and Henrik Stenson (18/1). The Wyndham Championship takes place Thursday-Sunday from Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.
63001 Webb Simpson 10/1
Simpson has won this event before and comes in as one of the hotter golfers in the field. He has quietly climbed up to 20th in the world rankings thanks to six top-10 finishes in 2018. He also has one victory this year and has finished in the top 25 in his last three events, which have all been very competitive fields. This week is a light field, which I think opens the door for Simpson to really make a run at the win.
63002 Henrik Stenson 18/1
Stenson is the defending champion of this tournament and he comes into the weekend needing a little momentum. After starting the year ninth in the world rankings, he now finds himself 19th. Stenson has finished outside the top 30 in his last three tournaments and is winless on the year. Still, he has six top-10 finishes and has missed just two cuts. Stenson has the ability, he just needs a little confidence. I think he can find it this week because I don’t see this field being able to run away from him.
63005 Rafael Cabrera Bello 22/1
Cabrera Bello is coming in with a little momentum in an otherwise disappointing 2018 season. He has missed five cuts this year, but enters this tournament having made his last three. That includes a 17th-place finish at the Bridgestone Invitational and a 10th place finish at the PGA Championship. Again, given the field is less competitive I think that opens the door for Cabrera Bello to make a charge up the leaderboard. He should feel good about his game after last week’s showing in a major.
