Masters Betting Preview
The 2016 Masters Championship will tee off on Thursday. Which golfers are favored, and which are the dark horses to emerge with the green jacket?
According to oddsmkers from Bovada.lv, Jason Day is favored to win this major, as he is listed with 13/2 odds to win. Other golfers with short odds are Rory McIlroy (8/1), Jordan Spieth (9/1) and Bubba Watson (10/1).
Spieth is the defending champion, winning the tournament by four strokes. He went wire-to-wire as the leader in last year’s tournament. Watson was a two-time winner, claiming the title in 2012 and 2014 while Adam Scott (11/1) was the 2013 winner.
When it comes to players that are on a hot streak, Day is one to consider. He has won back-to-back events entering this major to climb to No. 1 in the world rankings, which is probably why he is the favorite. Scott has also been hot in 2016, claiming two victories and one runner-up finish.
Louis Oosthuizen is a golfer with strong potential this weekend. Given 30/1 odds, he has one victory and a runner-up finish in 2016. He also placed second in two majors in 2016 while finishing second in the 2014 Masters Championship.
Is 2016 the year Sergio Garcia finally claims his first major and first Masters green jacket? Garcia is 15th in the world rankings. He is winless this year, but has placed in the top 20 in four of his six events. He has finished in the top 10 at Augusta three times and was in the top 20 in three of the four majors last year.
