Updated Open Championship Odds
The 2018 Open Championship has its first round in the books and it’s a crowded field looking to gain the top spot. Here’s a look at the latest odds to win this major.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm are now the favorites, as each has 10/1 odds. Justin Thomas and Tony Finau are both getting 14/1 odds to win. The Open Championship continues Friday-Sunday at Carnoustie Golf Links in Carnoustie, Scotland.
It is Kevin Kisner that has the lead after 18 holes. He was the lone golfer to post a 5-under, 66 on Thursday and now sits at 22/1 to win the tournament. He has a one-shot lead on a group of three that includes Finau. Finau posted a 4-under, 67 to continue his strong play in the majors of 2018. He has finished in the top 10 in the Masters and U.S. Open and now finds himself in the mix in Scotland.
When it comes to McIlroy and Rahm, they both sit in a tie for eighth place at 2-under for the tournament. Each shot a 69 in their opening round. McIlroy is a former Open Championship winner and has finished in the top 5 in his last three appearances. Rahm is looking to earn his first major championship. Until this year, he hadn’t cracked the top 20 in any major. Rahm finished fourth at the Masters, but missed the cut at the U.S. Open.
Justin Thomas is also in the group at -2 for the tournament after he also shot a 69 on Thursday. Thomas was at -4 at one point in the tournament, but couldn’t continue that momentum on his back nine. Thomas is seeking his first Open Championship and second major.
Tiger Woods had an okay opening round, shooting and even par 71. Woods had a clean front nine, sitting at -2, but struggled on his back nine to finish at even. Tigers is currently listed with 20/1 odds to win The Open Championship.
