Open Championship Odds
The third major of the 2018 golf season takes place when the world’s best compete in The Open Championship. Here’s a look at the odds to win this year’s British Open.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Dustin Johnson is the favorite to win, as he is listed with 12/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Justin Rose (16/1), Rickie Fowler (16/1) and Rory McIlroy (16/1). The Open Championship takes place Thursday-Sunday at Carnoustie Golf Links in Carnoustie, Scotland.
Johnson maintains his spot atop the world rankings, but he hasn’t played since the U.S. Open where he finished third. He has two wins and eight top-10 finishes this year out of 12 events. DJ has never won The Open Championship, but has three top-10 finishes in nine appearances. He is seeking his second career major.
Rose is third in the world rankings. He has one win and seven top-10 finishes in 12 events this year. He has placed in the top 10 in four straight, including a victory at the Fort Worth Invitational. Rose has not won this event and has just two-top 10 finishes in 16 appearances. Like Johnson, he is looking to win his second major.
Fowler is seventh in the world rankings. He comes into this major winless in 2018 with three missed cuts and four top-10 finishes out of 15 events. He has finished in the top 10 in five straight. Fowler was runner-up in the 2014 Open Championship. He has two top-10 finishes out of eight appearances. Fowler is looking to win his first major.
McIlroy is eighth in the current world rankings. He has played 16 events this year and has one win with six top-10 finishes and four missed cuts. He was the 2014 Open Championship winner and has finished in the top 5 the last two years. Out of nine appearances in this event, McIlroy has finished in the top 5 four times. He has a total of four major championships to his credit.
