Tiger Woods withdraws again
LA JOLLA, CA (TheSpread) – Tiger Woods can’t seem to get back on track, having another major setback this weekend at the Farmers Insurance Open.
After getting off to another poor start in the first round of Thursday’s PGA event, Woods withdrew on the 12th hole, citing back pain. It is the third time in the last nine tournaments he has played in that he has had to leave an event early because of his back. Woods is a 14-time major championship winner and many believed he would set the all-time major championship mark, but he hasn’t won a major since 2008 and it is looking less and less likely that he may win again.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Woods has been given 3/1 odds to win a major in 2015, and his current odds to win the 2015 Masters Championship has been set at 14/1.
Woods had a horrible 2014 season. The back injury prevented him from playing in the Masters and the U.S. Open. He then finished 69th at the British Open and then missed the cut in the PGA Championship. Woods didn’t have a single top-10 finish in 2014 and he has fallen to 56th in the world rankings, and will fall even further after this week’s tournament concludes. The only reason his odds are so small to win a major is probably due to the amount being wagered on him. Right now, a bet on Woods just seems like a waste of money.
