U.S. Open Predictions
The third major championship of 2019 gets underway on Thursday. Here’s the golfers we like to contend for the win this weekend in the U.S. Open.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Dustin Johnson is currently the favorite with 15/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Brooks Koepka (8/1), Rory McIlroy (9/1) and Tiger Woods (12/1). The 2019 U.S. Open takes place Thursday-Sunday from Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California.
Bet on the U.S. Open Championship
1800 Brooks Koepka 8/1
It’s hard to go against Koepka in a major right now, as he has been absolutely dominant over the last couple of years. Koepka is the two-time defending U.S. Open champion and he has finished first or second in four of the last five majors. He won the PGA Championship last month and was second at Augusta for The Masters. While his overall stats for 2019 aren’t as strong as other contenders, Koepka seems to bring his best for the majors.
1812 Xander Schauffele 25/1
Like Koepka, Schauffele is someone that steps up in major championships. He has finished in the top six in three of the last five majors. The U.S. Open has been especially strong for him. He has played in the tournament twice, finishing fifth in 2017 and sixth in 2018. This year, Schauffele has one win with three top-10 finishes, which doesn’t jump off the page, but I feel confident about his style and mindset for the U.S. Open. He keeps the ball in the fairway and that goes a long way this week.
1820 Phil Mickelson 40/1
Mickelson is a good long shot to consider as Pebble Beach has been a pretty good course for him. He’s a five-time winner of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, including the defending champ from February. The U.S. Open is the only tournament keeping him from the career grand slam, so I think he will really be pushing hard this week at a course he likes. The. U.S. Open hasn’t been a great event for him, but he was fourth in the 2010 Open, the last one at Pebble Beach.
