Spieth leads Masters by 5
AUGUSTA, GA (TheSpread) – The Masters is halfway complete and Jordan Spieth made some history through 36 holes.
After shooting an 8-under 64 on Thursday, Spieth followed that up with a 6-under 66 on Friday to get to -14 for the tournament. That sets a new 36-hole Masters record for lowest score through two rounds. He has a five-shot lead on Charley Hoffman, while the rest of the field is 7 shots back.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Spieth is the clear favorite to win, as he now has 2/5 odds. Dustin Johnson has 17/2 odds while Hoffman is at 15/1.
Hoffman had a surprising Friday, as he posted a 68 to put him at -9 for the tournament. Hoffman set the early tone on Thursday with a 5-under 67, but not many would have expected him to match that effort today. He was all set to shoot another 67 today, but bogeyed the final hole. He is seeking his first major.
Johnson is tied for third at -7 after shooting a 5-under 67. He had three eagles in his second round on Friday and now finds himself 7 shots back.
