Valero Texas Open Predictions
OPTION 1: Rickie Fowler (+1700)
High winds are supposed to be a hurdle this weekend and thus, we’ll want to back someone who can adjust. That’s Fowler, who continues to show promising signs this season. He’s missed only one cut this season and seven of his 11 finishes on the year have been inside the top-25. I expect Fowler to be in the mix on Sunday.
OPTION 2: Cameron Davis (+4400)
First and foremost, Davis is healthy again, which speaks for itself when it comes to backing the Australian. He also played well at the WGC-Dell match Play despite not advancing out of group play. In that event, he posted 11 birdies in his final two matches, which included victories against Tom Hoge and Aaron Wise. I admit this play is mostly about Davis’ number, but he’s an intriguing value play nonetheless.
OPTION 3: Alex Noren (+3600)
Noren is another contender that knows how to play the wind, which will be vital this weekend. He also has an outstanding short game, ranking 20th in his field over the last 36 rounds for scrambling and 19th in bogey avoidance according to Golf.com. Noren’s game should play very well in San Antonio.
