Valspar Championship Free Picks
The Valspar Championship will begin play on Thursday morning and we have some suggested plays for this PGA Tournament.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Jordan Spieth is the current favorite with 5/1 odds to win. Other golfers with short odds are Henrik Stenson (12/1) and Daniel Willett (18/1). The Valspar Championship takes place Thursday-Sunday from Innisbrook – Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Louis Oosthuizen has 25/1 odds for the weekend but we think he’s going to be the one to beat. This year he has placed in the top 15 in four of five events, including one victory and another top-10. Look for him to build off that this weekend in a field that doesn’t feature a lot of top-flight talent.
Patrick Reed hasn’t been playing all too well as of late, which has seen him get 25/1 odds this weekend as well despite being No. 10 in the world rankings. We think this is a good buy as Reed finished second in this tournament last year. Reed finished 52nd last week and missed the cut the week prior, but he returned to a place he knows he can play well, so that should boost his confidence. He still has two top-10 finishes this year, including a runner-up, so the good golfing isn’t far off. Use Reed’s poor play as of late to your advantage this week.
K.J. Choi is off to a great start in 2016 and we think that continues this week with 33/1 odds. Choi has finished in the top 5 in two of five events and also has another top-20 finish. Unlike Reed, who we think is bound for a bounce back, we think Choi remains hot and doesn’t take a step back. He hasn’t had a win since 2012, but look for him to contend to finish that this year and possibly get you a big pay day.
