WGC-Bridgestone Invitational Picks
A stacked field is set to compete in the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational starting on Thursday morning. Here’s the golfers we like to contend for the victory.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Dustin Johnson is favored to win this week’s tournament, as he has 7/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Rory McIlroy (10/1) and Tiger Woods (12/1). The WGC-Bridgestone Invitational takes place Thursday-Sunday from Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
Dustin Johnson 7/1
DJ has been playing very well in 2018 and playing up to his top ranking. Johnson has three wins and nine top-10 finishes in 14 events. He has won two of the last four tournaments he has played in. Johnson also won this event back in 2016 and he has won a total of five WGC events in his career. I think Johnson is the man to beat again this weekend.
Tiger Woods 12/1
I have been hesitant to want to pull the trigger on Tiger for a while now, but his British Open performance showed some signs of life and should give him confidence that he can win again. Now he heads to a tournament where he is an 8-time winner. Woods knows this course like the back of his hand. He has won 18 WGC events over his career so I think he should feel very comfortable this weekend and be ready to make a run at the title.
Francesco Molinari 25/1
Why not stick with the hot hand? Molinari has won three of his last six tournaments and placed second in two others. He is on a hot streak you don’t often see in golf. He should have plenty of confidence as he is coming off a British Open title against an elite field like he will see this weekend. WGC events haven’t been his best, but neither were majors prior to this year. I think with 25/1 odds, Molinari is definitely worth considering.
