WGC-Mexico Championship Picks
Many of the top names in golf come together this weekend for the first WGC event of 2020. Here’s three golfers we like to contend for the win in the Mexico Championship.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Rory McIlroy is favored to win the tournament, as he has 5/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Dustin Johnson (8/1) and Jon Rahm (9/1). The 2020 WGC-Mexico Invitational takes place Thursday-Sunday from Club de Golf Chapultepec in Naucalpan de Juarez, Mexico
Bet on the WGC-Mexico Championship
1001 Dustin Johnson 8/1
This has been a great event for DJ, as he is a three-time winner and the defending champion. Two of his three wins came on this course. Johnson is coming off a 10th-place finish last weekend in the Genesis Invitational and he has finished in the top 10 in three of his last four events. Johnson has been pretty good in WGC events overall, winning a total of six in his career. I expect Johnson to have another strong showing this weekend.
1005 Webb Simpson 18/1
Simpson is coming off a win in his last outing, the Phoenix Open a few weeks back. He has finished in the top 10 in five straight tournaments and in the top three in three of his last four events. Simpson is on a real surge, climbing to eighth in the world rankings. While WGC events haven’t been a strong point for him in the past, I think he will continue his big swing of momentum this weekend.
1008 Tommy Fleetwood 20/1
Tommy Fleetwood is back on track coming into this WGC tournament. He has finished 11th or better in four straight events, including two runner-up finishes and one win. Fleetwood also has had some success in this tournament, finishing second on this course to DJ back in 2017. He followed that up with top-20 finishes the last two years as well. Fleetwood has been pretty consistent in WGC events, finishing in the top 20 in eight of the last 12 he’s been in. I like his value at 20/1 this weekend.
