Should bettors avoid Chrome?
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – Should bettors stay away from California Chrome this weekend when he tries to win the 2014 Belmont Stakes and thus, the Triple Crown?
Get Chase Diamond’s Expert Picks
California Chrome is the current favorite for Saturday at 4/5 odds, while Wicked Strong is 6/1 to win and Ride On Curlin is 7/1. Tonalist ,meanwhile, is 17/2 to win the Belmont while Commanding Curve is 11/1 and Medal Count is 20/1.
But even though California Chrome is the favorite to win, should bettors pony up or avoid the thoroughbred seeing as how we haven’t seen a Triple Crown winner since 1978? The build up to this race has been huge and the pressure is on since history is on the line. Only 11 horses ever have won the Triple Crown and haven’t been done since the late 70’s.
Here are my picks for the Belmont stakes this weekend:
1. Wicked Strong at 6-1 gives us excellent value and bang for our buck.
2. California Chrome 3-5 comes in second losing out by a nose.
3. Commanding curve I have finishing 3rd in this race.
No matter whom you bet just remember there is no value in California Chrome but he will finish in the top 3 so get him in your trifecta betting.
