Three Daytona Drivers to Watch
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (The Spread) – NASCAR opens up on Sunday with the Daytona 500 and there are three drivers worth a look at the betting window.
Austin Dillon is sitting on the pole and is getting anywhere from 20-1 to 45-1 odds to win. Dillon is a rookie this year in the Sprint Cup, but he has championships under his belt in Nationwide and the Craftsman Truck series. Dillon is inheriting the cars that took Kevin Harvick to a 2nd place finish in last year’s Sprint Cup, you also have to like the fact that winning the pole should keep him out of trouble at least for a while.
You can never overlook Jimmie Johnson the six-time and current champ. Johnson is catching odds anywhere from 8-1 to 12-1 and while that’s not a whole lot of bang for your buck, he beat out Dale Earnhardt Jr. to win the race last season. He’s also spoken to the media about this being NASCAR’s Super Bowl, so his focus will be outstanding.
If you’re looking for more of a long shot and thus, to get a little more bang for your buck, A.J. Allmendinger might be worth a shot. Allmendinger is catching anywhere from 60-1 to 85-1 odds of winning. Daugherty Racing now has a tech alliance with RCR, which could pay off in plate tracks. Allmendinger finished 3rd in the Daytona 500 in 2009, and in the Sprint Cup series anything can happen.
