Game 1 NBA Finals Preview
SAN ANTONIO, TX (The Spread) – Who holds the edge in Game 1 of the NBA Finals tonight? Let’s break down the matchup.
This is a rematch of last year’s Finals where LeBron James and the Heat took the title in a dramatic seven games. These two teams are the cream of the crop in the NBA and both teams deserve to be here. The Heat are playing in their fourth-straight Finals, while this is the Spurs’ sixth appearance since 1999. The Heat bring a healthy, well rest Dwyane Wade, while the Spurs bring in a healthy Manu Ginobili. These teams know each other well and I expect another exciting series, maybe even better than 2013 Finals.
Bettors have a lot to take in when deciding the best spot to place their money in this series. The revenge factor definitely has to go to the Spurs looking to avenge last year’s defeat, but you can never count out LeBron. As it stands now, the Spurs are slight favorites to win the series and are 5-point favorites in Game 1.
Tonight you have to think the Spurs come out ready to set the tone for series. The Spurs have been a strong 80-58 ATS on their home floor over the last 3 seasons. The Heat, meanwhile, bring a smaller lineup to the floor, which could give the Spurs trouble, but there are some solid trends that point to the Spurs.
The Heat are 2-5 ATS in their last seven at San Antonio, plus 0-4 ATS in their last four versus the West. Gregg Popovich will have his team ready with a game plan to take out the Heat in Game 1. These two teams will battle back and forth, but you can expect it to come down to the final minutes in Game 7.
