Hawks vs. Kings Betting Preview
CHICAGO, IL (The Spread) – The Chicago Blackhawks lead the L.A. Kings 1-0 in the Western Conference Finals.
The Kings look to even the series 1-1 tonight in Chicago 8:00PM ET with NBC Sports supplying the coverage. Let’s take a look at the series from a bettors standpoint, with the Blackhawks currently listed as a -150 money line favorite over the Kings, who are +138 money line underdogs.
These two teams find themselves in a familiar situation, as they met each other in last year’s conference finals with the Hawks taking the series. The Blackhawks have had the easier road to this point, as the Kings have had to battle it out in two game 7’s. These two teams really matchup well with each other and I don’t think it would be a surprise to anyone to see this one go to a Game 7. The NHL is no different than the playoffs in other sports, as it comes down to adjustments. L.A. will have some adjustments to make if they plan on evening up the series tonight.
The key in this series for bettors to give themselves the best chance to cash in this series is to watch the line movement for as long as they can before locking in their bets. Public money and how the line adjusts accordingly is going to make the difference in where to put your money in this series.
The total may be the best way to go in this series, as these teams matchup so well with each other. Game 1 came in under the total, and I look for most of these games to have similar results. The longer this series goes, the greater the intensity will be with fewer and fewer scoring chances.
The public money came in on the Hawks in game 1, with the Hawks coming away with the win. The public is backing the Hawks again in game 2, and I just don’t see the public cashing in back to back in this series. The public is sitting at 50/50 on the total, but the money play is on the under.
