After opening with odds of -125 to beat the Royals, the Blue Jays are now -147 on the money line to win today’s game according to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI. And after opening with +126 odds, Kansas City is now +132 to pull off the upset and eliminate Toronto from postseason contention. (The total, meanwhile, is sitting at 9 runs with Edinson Volquez set to face Marco Estrada in the pitching matchup.)
The true value in this game resides in the over. Volquez only allowed two hits over six scoreless innings in Game 1 of this series but the floodgates have opened since the series shifted to the Rogers Centre. The ball flies and this is the second time Toronto’s outstanding hitters have had an opportunity to see Volquez over the past seven days.
The Royals’ ability to make contact also suits over bettors. The turf in Toronto is fast and with that many balls in play, there’s bound to be plenty of hits, which lead to base runners, which lead to runs.
