BYU took a 9-0 lead into halftime against Arizona last Saturday and then hung on to an 18-16 victory after the Wildcats scored 13 points in the fourth quarter. BYU barely covered the 1-point spread, but covered they did. Quarterback Taysom Hill was 21-of-29 passing for 202 yards with one touchdown and also rushed 11 times for 37 yards. Jamaal Williams was the Cougars’ leading rusher, finishing with 162 yards on 29 carries.

As for Utah, the Utes also won their opener, beating FCS foe Southern Utah 24-0 but failing to cover as a 28-point favorite. Troy Williams turned in a solid performance, completing 20-of-35 passes for 272 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while also rushing five times for 15 yards. Tim Patrick was the leading receiver for Utah, catching five passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns.

OUR EARLY PICK: The Utes are coming off a pretty uninspiring performance versus Southern Utah last week, rushing for just 138 yards on just 3.7 yards per carry. That’s not a good sign for this weekend after BYU intercepted Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon twice and sacked him four times. The under is 4-1 in the Cougars’ last five games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game and is 11-5 in the Utes’ last 16 games coming off an ATS loss. The under is 8-2 in Utah’s last 10 home games as well.
