College Football Week 2 Picks: Utah State vs. USC 9/10/16

Utah State vs. USC Pick

The Utah State Aggies and USC Trojans won’t play to a defensive struggle today at 2:00PM ET but will they score enough to push the total over?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Trojans are 16.5-point home favorites over the Aggies while the over/under currently sits at 59 points. While the side hasn’t moved off the original number posted by oddsmakers, the total has gone from 59.5 down to 59.

The Aggies hung 45 points on FCS opponent Weber State in a 45-6 blowout win last Saturday in their season opener. They covered easily as a 21-point home favorite and the total was pushed over the number of 49.5. Quarterback Kent Myers only attempted 17 passes in the game, completing 11 of those passes for 100 yards. Devante Mays was the headliner in the win, rushing 18 times for 208 yards with three touchdowns.

A national audience saw the Trojans embarrass themselves last Saturday night at AT&T Stadium, losing 52-6 to Alabama as a 13.5-point underdog. The over also hit in the game, as the 58 combined points went over the number of 51.5. New quarterback Max Browne struggled in the contest, completing 14-of-29 attempts for 101 passing yards with one pick and no interceptions.

OUR PICK: It might take a few games for Browne to feel comfortable in this offense. He’s surrounded by plenty of talent but USC’s offense could struggle to find its footing in the month of September. Utah State wants to keep the ball on the ground and win games with a strong running game and defense, which makes cashing an over of 59 difficult for bettors. These two teams will score plenty today, but with the Aggies’ run-first offense, the points won’t be enough for over bettors.
