Astros vs. Pirates Prediction
Will the Astros win their fifth straight game when they visit the Pirates tonight at 7:05PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Astros are -119 money line favorites versus the Pirates, who have odds of +109 to pull off the upset tonight at home. With Joe Musgrove set to face Ivan Nova in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8.5 runs.
HOUSTON: Musgrove was hammered for eight runs on 11 hits over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Orioles last Thursday. He had allowed just 12 hits and three runs over his first three outings combined, but Baltimore beat Musgrove with the long ball. Three of those 12 hits were home runs by the Orioles, who had six home runs on the night. Mosgrove’s ERA jumped from 1.47 to 4.18.

PITTSBURGH: Nova allowed four runs on six hits over four innings in a no-decision last Wednesday versus the Giants. He has now allowed eight runs through his first 16 2/3 innings with the Pirates and owns a 4.41 ERA. To say the least, Nova has struggled since he was acquired from the Yankees, although believe it or not his ERA (4.90) with New York was actually higher than it is now.

OUR PICK: With their win last night the Astros are now 4-0 in their last four games, are 6-1 in their last seven games following a win, and are 11-2 in their last 13 interleague road games versus a right-handed starter. The Pirates, meanwhile, have dropped four straight games and are 0-5 in their last five home games versus a right-handed starter. Given Nova’s issues since arriving at the trade deadline, the Astros are a good bet at a decent price tonight in Pittsburgh.
