There is a lot to look at when betting dogs in the NHL playoffs. First, getting a dog at home is always a good proposition. Look at the Columbus Blue Jackets versus the Penguins. Columbus proved it could play with the Penguins when they won at Pittsburgh. So when looking at the lines on Wednesday night, getting +125 and seeing the public on the other side makes it an auto play for me.
The dogs you want to avoid are teams like the Ducks or the Sharks as they are road teams that are heavily public backed playing desperate teams at home. If I was to look for one dog to bet today to upset a heavy favorite it would be the Blue Jackets with nice plus money.
Again, the thing to look for when betting a underdog in hockey is play on the home dog and look at past results and also find out where the public has their money and how the line is moving accordingly.
