The Chicago White Sox host the Cleveland Indians at US Cellular Field, set to go around 8PM ET. The White Sox set to start Chris Sale, while the Indians are set to send Carlos Carrasco to the mound.
Sale held an ERA of 2.97 last season at home, and has looked strong to start the season. Carrasco carried an ERA of just under 8 last season, plus he was rocked by the White Sox last season at US Cellular Field. The White Sox should be able to give Sale some run support in this one as well. The juice will be set a little high here, but Sale is the much better pitcher, and should give Chicago the edge.
The 2nd game that poses a pitching advantage goes around 10PM ET at Safeco Field as the Seattle Mariners host the Oakland Athletics. The A’s are set to start Tommy Milone, while Felix Hernandenz gets the nod for the Mariners.
Hernandez has already faced the A’s this season, and put up a dominant performance where he pitched 8.1 innings allowing 1 run, 6 hits, and a walk with 8 strikeouts. Hernandez also performed well last season versus the A’s, posting a 2-1 record and a 1.31 ERA. Milone is filling in for A.J. Griffin in the A’s starting rotation, and just doesn’t have the ability to dominant as does Hernandez. The Mariners had no trouble putting up runs last season vs. Milone, and this should be no different. Look for Hernandez to pitch another gem Friday night.
