Wednesday’s MLB Betting Trends
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – As MLB is now in full swing, a lot of handicappers will live and die by two things: Starting pitchers & betting trends.
Although there are many more aspects to look at to be successful this is a good place to start. For Wednesday I will cover some key trends and pitching match-ups that initially jumped off the board at me during my first look.
Let’s start off with the early game on Wednesday between the Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles. The Tigers are playing very good ball right now having won 7 of their last 10 games and have a solid road record sitting at 10-4. This afternoon their ace Justin Verlander will take the hill. Although the public will back the Tigers today strictly on Verlander alone it’s not a bad initially lean. Grabbing Verlander at a price of around -130 is rare and should be taken advantage of in the right spot.
Key Betting Trends:
- The Tigers are 7-0 in Verlanders last 7 road starts vs. Orioles.
- The Orioles are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. American League Central.
Initial first lean on the day would be for the Detroit Tigers to take care of business against the Baltimore Orioles.
The second game that I jumped right over to this morning was the Subway Series as the Yankees and the Mets will change up the location tonight and play at Citi Field. The Mets have beat up on the Yankees over the first two games which continues their success while playing at Yankees Stadium from last year. Although on paper the Mets are playing better baseball right now they do not play the same ball at home. The Mets struggle and home and it will be a problem for them all year. Also note that the Yankees new edition ace M. Tanaka will be on the mound tonight. The Mets have not played him yet and every team that faces him for the first time this year is in for some trouble.
Key Betting Trends:
- Mets are 0-5 in their last 5 interleague home games.
- Mets are 1-5 in their last 6 games vs. a right-handed starter.
Initial first look on this game is on the Yankees to find the win column tonight. If you do not want to lay the juice on the money line, the run line also looks like a solid play.
