Will Broncos cover vs. Colts?

DENVER, CO (The Spread) – The Colts take on the Broncos tonight as Peyton Manning faces his old team on “Sunday Night Football” at 7:30PM ET.

Get Jay Dotson’s Expert Picks

The Broncos open up their season at home as they look to put the Super Bowl beating Seattle gave them in the rearview mirror. You can always expect a lot of hype when these two teams clash, but I expect the Broncos to cover the number.

Andrew Luck and the Colts are a team you can never count out, but I’ve learned the hard way it’s not usually good for your wallet to go against Manning. I went against Manning and the Broncos in last year’s opener as they blew out the Ravens and although I’m not expecting a blowout, I am anticipating a fairly easy cover.

The Broncos are 5-1 ATS in their last six season openers at home, while the Colts are 0-6 ATS in their last six season openers. The Colts did hand the Broncos a 39-33 loss last season, but the Broncos have made some upgrades to their defense and their offense looks to be firing on all cylinders. The additions of defensive end DeMarcus Ware, safety T.J. Ward, and cornerback Aqib Talib will definitely give the Broncos an improved look on the defensive side of the ball.

The Broncos shouldn’t lack motivation here as you would expect Manning to have a little extra fire anytime he sees the Colts on the calendar.  Denver will also be looking to start off their campaign strong as they expect nothing less than a repeat trip to the Super Bowl.  Do your wallet a favor and lay the points on the Broncos Sunday night.
