Considering the different directions of the professional football landscape, all angles meet in the middle with each team in any matchup playing for a shot at the Lombardi trophy or looking for the upset to spoil the opposition’s chances at a playoff spot.
Although certain teams such as Seattle and Denver have secured a post season spot neither team has secured home field advantage throughout the playoffs. In the AFC, Kansas City and New England both have an opportunity to secure home field where we know Peyton Manning has struggled in New England in the recent history. In the NFC, Carolina and the 49ers have a shot at knocking Seattle from the top spot as a playoff matchup for Seattle away from home is a coin flip as far as the final result is concerned.
Some key matchups this week that will help shape the landscape of the NFL playoffs would include the Saints at Carolina, Arizona at Seattle, where the Cardinals are itching badly for the sixth spot in the NFC, and Seattle would love to send their division home for the holiday. In the AFC, a few key matchups would be New England visiting the Ravens and the Chargers hosting Oakland where Rivers is thirsty to rejoin the other elite signal callers in the playoff hunt.
