Will Ohio State cover the spread vs. Oregon in the National Championship?

Will Ohio State cover vs. Oregon?

ARLINGTON, TX (The Spread) – Will Oregon roll in tonight’s national championship game or is Ohio State a live dog when the two teams kick off at 8:30PM ET?

Get Jay Dotson’s Expert Picks

Oregon enters the title game coming off a blowout win over Florida State, while Ohio State comes in off an upset win over Alabama. This is the first time since 2006 that there will be no team from the SEC in the championship game.  I find this to be a nice change for college football as the Big Ten and Pac-12 earned their right to be in the title game.

When breaking down the matchup from a betting standpoint, there are trends out floating around that make arguments for both sides. For example, Ohio State is 8-4 ATS in their last 12 games, while Oregon is on a 5-0 ATS run.

With a game of this magnitude I often look to the oddsmakers and public money when coming to a decision.  Right now the public is heavy on Oregon ATS, but there’s also a lot of action on the Ohio State money line.  The best bet in this one is to split the difference and take Ohio State plus the points.

The Buckeyes are currently 6-point underdogs according to oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI. Grab seven if you can and bet the number up. This should be an exciting close to the college football season!
