With Falcons struggling on defense, will Packers cover in Week 8? 10/30/16

Packers vs. Falcons Pick

With the Falcons struggling mightily on defense, will the Packers cover as a road underdog this Sunday in Atlanta?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Falcons are now 3-point home favorites versus the Packers after opening as a 2.5-point favorite earlier this week. As for the total, the number currently sits at 52.5 points after also opening at that number.

Bet NFL Week 8 Games

The Packers have now won three of their last four games after routing the Bears 26-10 as a 7.5-point home favorite last Thursday night. With that win, they’re 4-2 on the year and have covered the spread in three of their six games, with one push as a 7-point favorite versus the Giants in Week 5. The under has also cashed in three straight Green Bay games and is 4-2 on the season.

Despite four straight wins and one impressive performance in a tight loss to the Seahawks in Seattle, the Falcons sit at only 4-3 on the season following back-to-back losses. Atlanta couldn’t hold onto a 17-point halftime lead and blew a game to San Diego last week in overtime. The main issue for the Falcons is their defense, which has not come up with key fourth-quarter stops in the team’s three losses.

OUR PREDICTION: Despite Eddie Lacy being on I.R. and James Starks still out with an injury, the Packers found a way to win last Thursday without having a true threat at running back. Ty Montgomery will once again handle a lot of the Packers’ rushing duties. The Packers might not find a lot of room to run, as the Falcons own the ninth-best run defense in the league, but Aaron Rodgers should light up an Atlanta secondary that is surrendering 294.3 passing yards per game (31st in the NFL). Don’t be shocked if the Packers win this game outright and hand the Falcons their third-straight loss.
