Orioles roll to 2-0 start in series
After a 4-1 win on Friday, Baltimore followed that up on Saturday with an 8-1 victory over the Blue Jays. Baltimore is now 27-61 on the season, 16-30 on the road and 44-39 with the over. The O’s have Gabriel Ynoa getting the start today. He is 0-6 on the year with a 6.22 ERA.
Pitching hasn’t been a strength for Baltimore this year, but the Orioles got another solid day on the mound in this series on Saturday. Andrew Cashner threw seven innings and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out four. He got the win to improve to 9-3 on the year. Renato Nunez hit his 20th home run of the season to lead the Orioles at the plate while Anthony Santander had three hits and two RBI and Stevie Wilkerson added two hits and two RBI.
Blue Jays silent at the plate
Toronto lost its third straight game on Saturday and the Jays have scored just two runs in two games in this series. The Blue Jays are now 33-57 overall, 17-30 at home and 45-42 with the over. Toronto has Trent Thornton getting the start today. He is 2-6 on the season with a 5.18 ERA.
The Blue Jays were held to just three hits and one walk on Saturday, not able to amass a single extra-base hit against Baltimore pitching. Cavan Biggio drove in the lone run for the Jays in the loss. Clayton Richard took the loss to fall to 1-5 on the year. He gave up six runs (three earned) over six innings on seven hits.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles are just 28-66 in their last 94 AL East games and 5-16 in their last 21 Sunday games.
Toronto
The Blue Jays are just 1-8 in their last nine division games and 1-5 in their last six at home.
Prediction:
I have managed to successfully ride the Orioles to a pair of upset road wins this weekend and I think I am going to go for a sweep. Hitting is contagious, but so is not hitting. The Jays are in a real funk at the plate and I think Ynoa can capitalize on that. Despite his 0-6 record, he is coming off 5.1 innings of 1-run ball against Cleveland, another poor lineup. Thornton has given up 12 runs over his last 6 innings on the mound, which tells me that Baltimore can jump out early again and win no matter what their pitching is like today. Go with the “hot” team in the Orioles once again.
MLB Prediction: Baltimore Orioles +155
