– The rosters for each league have been increased to 34 players to accommodate for pitchers who make regular season stars on the last Sunday before the All-Star Game is played.
– There is a modified re-entry rule this year. In addition to the existing injured catcher rule, managers are now allowed to select one position player to re-enter the game in the even that the last available position player is injured or cannot return to the field of play.
