The Tigers have Anibal Sanchez on the mound to face Hiroki Kuroda of the Yankees. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Yankees are slightly favored to win this game, as they have odds of -132, while the Tigers have a money line of +122. The over/under total for the game has been set at 8 runs. The Yankees are 98-70 overall this year and 53-32 at home while the Tigers are 92-76 overall and 40-45 on the road. The Yankees roughed up Sanchez in his only start against them this year and they went 1-1 against the Tigers with Kuroda on the mound this season.
The updated series price for this series has the Tigers as the new favorite, giving them odds of -200, while the Yankees have odds of +170 to win the ALCS. The Tigers hold a 1-0 lead on the Yankees following a 6-4 win in 12 innings on Saturday night. Detroit actually held a 4-0 lead in the ninth inning, but closer Jose Valverde gave up a pair of two-run home runs in the inning to extend the game. The Tigers posted two runs in the 12th while New York shortstop Derek Jeter fractured his ankle trying to make a play in the infield. Jeter will miss the rest of the postseason and the Tigers went on to hold on for the victory.
