Saturday’s MLB Odds
(TheSpread) – Major League Baseball officially kicks off the Divisional Playoffs on Saturday with a pair of games. Here is a look at the odds for both contests.
In the American League, the Detroit Tigers are hosting the Oakland Athletics at 6:05PM ET in Game 1 of their series (View Matchup). The Tigers send ace Justin Verlander to the mound to face Jarrod Parker of the A’s. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Tigers are the clear favorite in this game, as they have odds of -185 to win, while the A’s have a money line of +175. The over/under total for the game has been set at 7.5 runs. Detroit went 88-74 this season and 50-31 at home while Oakland was 94-68 overall and 44-37 on the road. Detroit won the season series, 4-3. Verlander pitched in two of those victories. Parker has not started against the Tigers this year.
In the National League, the San Francisco Giants will host the Cincinnati Reds at 9:30PM ET (View Matchup). The Giants have Matt Cain on the mound to face Johnny Cueto of the Reds. According to oddsmakers, the Giants are a slight favorite to win, as they have odds of -120. The Reds have a money line of +110, while the over/under total has been set at 6.5 runs. The Giants are 94-68 overall and 48-33 at home while the Reds are 97-65 overall and 47-34 on the road. These two teams met seven times this year with the Reds winning four of the meetings. Cain pitched in two of the losses for the Giants while Cueto pitched in a Reds’ loss to San Fran.
