2013 AL MVP Odds to Win
(The Spread) – Will Miguel Cabrera win his second straight American League MVP award? Let’s check out his odds.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Tigers’ slugger is 2/3 to win the 2013 AL MVP, while Chris Davis of the Orioles has the next best odds at 2/1. Mike Trout, meanwhile, is 6/1 to win this year’s MVP award and Cabrera’s Detroit teammate Max Scherzer is a 25/1 long shot.
Cabrera currently leads Major League Baseball in average (.365), RBI (95) and OPS (1.132). He’s also second in home runs with 30 and slugging percentage at .717 after winning the Triple Crown last season. It’s unbelievable to think but he actually has better numbers now than at this same point last season.
Davis, meanwhile, leads the Majors in home runs with 37 and also leads Baltimore in batting average, RBI, OBP and home runs. He’s currently batting .315 with 93 runs batted in and .392 on base percentage.
Trout has been fantastic for the Angels, batting .322 with 59 RBI, a .399 on base percentage and 119 hits. He also has 15 home runs, which place him second on L.A.’s team behind only Mark Trumbo, who has 21.
Even though he’s on the same staff as ace Justin Verlander, Scherzer is the current favorite to win the American League Cy Young award after racking up 13 wins, 152 strikeouts and a 3.19 ERA over the first half of the season. He also has 14 quality starts, which rank him fourth behind Bartolo Colon (16), Felix Hernandez (15) and James Shields (15).
2013 American League MVP Odds to Win
Miguel Cabrera (Detroit) 2/3
Chris Davis (Baltimore) 2/1
Mike Trout (Los Angeles) 6/1
