LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – The 2014 ALDS Playoffs begin play on Thursday with the top four teams in the American League ready to slug it out. Here is a look at the odds for both series.
The opening series to get started features the Baltimore Orioles facing the Detroit Tigers in a best-of-5 series. The Orioles have home field for the series. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Detroit is actually the favorite to win the series, as the Tigers have been given a money line of -145 to win, while the Orioles have odds of +125 to win. Baltimore went 96-66 this season, winning the AL East while going 50-31 at home and 46-35 on the road. Detroit was 90-72 overall, winning the AL Central while going 45-36 at home and 45-36 on the road. These two met six times during the regular season with Detroit winning five of the six games including all three games in Baltimore.
The other series taking place in the AL has the Los Angeles Angels meeting the Kansas City Royals with the Angels getting the home-field advantage. Oddsmakers have the Angels as the clear favorite in the series, as they are getting odds of -200 to win, while the Royals have a money line of +170 to win. Los Angeles went 98-64 overall, winning the AL West. Los Angeles was 52-29 at home and 46-35 on the road. Kansas City was 89-73 overall, winning the AL Wild Card, 9-8 over Oakland on Tuesday. The Royals are 42-39 at home and 47-34 on the road. These two met six times during the regular season with each team getting three wins. The home team won four of the six games played.
