LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – The 2014 NLDS Playoffs begin play on Friday with the top four teams in the National League ready to contend for the title. Here is a look at the odds for both series.
The opening series to get started features the Washington Nationals taking on the San Francisco Giants, with the Nationals getting home field for the series. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Nationals are favored to win the series, as they are getting odds of -175 to do so. San Francisco has been given a money line of +155 to prevail. Washington won the NL East, going 96-66 overall, 51-30 at home and 45-36 on the road. San Francisco won the NL Wild Card, going 88-74 overall with a 45-36 record at home and 43-38 record on the road. These two met seven times during the regular season with Washington winning five of the seven meetings. These two have hit the over in their last five meetings as well.
The other series taking place in the NL has the Los Angeles Dodgers meeting the St. Louis Cardinals, with the Dodgers getting home field. Oddsmakers have the Dodgers favored to win the series, as they have odds of -195 to win, while the Cardinals have been given a money line of +167 to prevail. Los Angeles won the NL West, going 94-68 overall with a 45-36 record at home and 49-32 record on the road. St. Louis won the NL Central, going 90-72 overall, 51-30 at home and 39-42 on the road. These two met seven times this season, with Los Angeles winning four of them. The home team went 5-2 in the seven games and the two hit the under in five of their seven meetings.
