NL Wild Card Game Odds
PITTSBURGH, PA (TheSpread) – The NL Wild Card winner will be decided today when the Pittsburgh Pirates host the San Francisco Giants at 8PM ET.
The Giants are putting their ace Madison Bumgarner on the mound to face Edinson Volquez of the Pirates. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Giants are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -115 to win, while the Pirates are getting a money line of +105 to win. The over/under total for the game has been set at 6.5 runs.
Both teams went 88-74 on the season, with the Giants going 43-38 on the road and Pittsburgh going 51-30 at home. Volquez went 13-7 on the mound this season, striking out 140 batters while giving up 71 walks. His ERA on the season was 3.04 and his WHIP was 1.23. Bumgarner was 18-10 on the mound this year, racking up 219 strikeouts with only 32 walks. His ERA on the season is 2.98 and his WHIP is 1.09.
These two met six times during the regular season, with Pittsburgh winning four of the six meetings. The home teams went 3-3 in the six games and they hit the under three times, the over twice and pushed once. Volquez never started against the Giants while Bumgarner pitched against the Pirates once, lasing only four innings in a 5-0 loss.
