2015 National League Pennant Odds
Thanks to the best 1-2 pitching punch in all of baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers are favored to win the National League pennant in 2015.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Dodgers are 2/1 favorites to represent the National League in the World Series this year. The Mets, who play the Dodgers in the NLDS, have the next best odds at 9/4 while the Cardinals are 29/10 and the Cubs are 5/1. The Pirates currently have the longest odds to win the pennant this year at 11/2.
Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke will be difficult to beat in a five or seven-game series, although the Cardinals have proved multiple times that opponents can overcome Los Angeles’ pitching in the postseason. The Dodgers’ offense is down compared to what it’s looked like in recent years, but pitching usually wins out in the postseason. We’ll see if Kershaw and Co. can finally get over the hump this year and advance to the NLCS and beyond.
Speaking of the Cardinals, they won 100 games this year despite not having Adam Wainwright, Matt Holliday, Matt Adams, Jon Jay and Jordan Walden for large chunks of the season. They’ve received production from unlikely sources such as Stephen Piscotty and Randal Grichuk, as well as from offseason trade acquisition Jason Heyward. They’re healthy now, but it’ll be interesting to see if they can continue to overcome adversity in route to their fifth-straight NLCS appearance.
